About Dr. Floyd Williams
Dr. Floyd Williams has served as a science teacher, reading teacher, principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels, assistant principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent of schools in his over 22 year experience in education. Dr. Floyd Williams has worked his entire life trying to create successes and positive change in the lives of his students.
After graduating from Marquette University with a B.S in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences, he went on to Concordia University where he received his M.S in Administrative Leadership. He also has an Ed.D in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service from Cardinal Stritch University. Dr. Williams currently holds licenses for Superintendent in PreK-12; Principal in PreK-12; and Teacher in Grades 1-8 for the state of Wisconsin and a Professional Educator License and Superintendent Endorsement for the state of Illinois.
Through his dedication and tireless efforts, he has been able to increase student achievement and helped schools go from “need for improvement” to “satisfactory.” This ability to turn schools around for the better has made him a sought out leader to help students reach success. Not only has he been able to assist schools academically, but he has made positive impacts financially as well. In fact, within one year as a principal of an elementary school, he instituted a financial plan that erased an $88,000 deficit in the school’s budget.
Dr. Floyd Williams has also been a mentor for aspiring and experienced principals. He has been able to guide and support them through school improvement initiatives, fiscal management, staff supervision, and the implementation of systemic policies and procedures. In 2005, his passion for innovation and leadership led him to establish the Dr. George Washington Carver Academy of Mathematics and Science, a four-year Kindergarten through Eighth grade school, where he also served as principal.
Dr. Floyd William’s efforts have earned him numerous accolades including the Sarah Scott Principal of the Year by the Metropolitan Milwaukee Alliance of Black School Educators. He was also featured as one of three Milwaukee Principals whose unique style has made a positive change in the lives of students. Most recently, Dr. Floyd Williams was one of 21 superintendents recognized by the National School Public Relations Association as a Superintendent to Watch.
Before stepping into his most recent position as the Superintendent of Schools for Des Plaines, he served as the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary School Leadership for Kenosha. During this time, he was able to motivate educational organizations and communities to create and support initiatives and programs that encouraged students to reach their full potential.
Dr. Floyd Williams is passionate about teachers and believes they play a critical role in the success of a society. Throughout his career he has been a focused and disciplined leader. His vision and effective communication skills has allowed him to instill the kind of motivation needed for students to triumph over any adversity.
